Off-Season Stays

What To Expect During Your Off Season (Spring or Fall Season) Stay

We are so pleased to host our guests in our Spring and Fall seasons. The Sea Shell Resort offers a uniquely peaceful and low key LBI experience in the months leading up to and after the Summer Season. Many of our guests love to join us during this time before and after the large crowds and summer traffic set it.

We do want to point out to our Spring and Fall guests that our resort does not offer all of the same amenities in our shoulder seasons that we do during our summer season. We highly encourage you to read through all the below information so you can have the appropriate expectations from our resort during your Spring or Fall season stay.

*Spring and Fall seasons are defined by the dates listed on our yearly rate calendar posted on our website.

Restaurant and Bar Availability

During our Spring and Fall seasons our restaurants and bars are NOT guaranteed to be open daily, nor are they open for the full hours we offer during the summer season.

If staying with us during the Spring season, prior to Memorial Day Weekend, our restaurants and bars will NOT be open during the week. This means the resort does not offer any options for food or beverage service during this time.

  • Our resort is centrally located within walking distance of a large number of great restaurants, bars, cafes, coffee shops, grocery store, etc.

  • We can help with directions to any of these options but we cannot guarantee availability of these bars and restaurants during your stay.

  • Please remember that LBI is a seasonal town and most bars and restaurants are not open mid-week outside of the summer season.

  • We highly recommend you do some research into what is open during your stay so you have a solid plan on where to eat and drink during that time.

  • Your room will include a mini-fridge and microwave for your convenience.

Our Palm Grill and Tiki Bar will be open on weekends, however these amenities are outdoors only and their availability is weather dependent.

    • Assuming good weather, our bar will open at 11:00am and our restaurant will begin serving food at 11:30am on the weekends.

    • The closing times of these food and beverage outlets are based off weather, crowds and management discretion.

    • We offer a limited food menu during the Spring and Fall seasons.

    • During this time, table service may be available; however some days in our first few weeks of being open, or on days with questionable weather forecasts,  we may only offer food through our bar.

    • The sushi menu is not available during this time.

    • Our To-Go Shack and Merch Shop typically align their hours with our Palm Grill Restaurant and Tiki Bar, but are not always guaranteed to be open in the Spring and Fall. If the To-Go Shack is closed, but our restaurant is open, we can still help with to-go food through our bar. During these times a manager would always be happy to help with access to our Merch Shop if needed.

Starting on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend :

  • Palm Grill Restaurant (11:30am) and our Tiki Bar (11:00am) will be open daily (weather depending) throughout the remainder of our Spring Season.

  • Closing times will vary depending on weather, crowds and management discretion.

  • We typically begin to offer our sushi menu on MDW, however that date could vary depending on the availability of our sushi chefs.

The Palm Grill and Tiki Bar will be the only food and beverage options available from Memorial Day Weekend through the end of June.

The Palm Tree Dinner Restaurant, the 10 South Martini Bar, and our Beach Bar are always closed during our Spring and Fall seasons. We will utilize these spaces to host private events during these seasons Please note, that even if we are not hosting an event, these amenities would still regularly be closed in our Spring and Fall season.

The Palm Tree Dinner Restaurant, the 10 South Martini Bar, and our Beach Bar will open for daily service on the first Thursday within our summer season. They will not be available the first few days of the summer season.  Once we hit the first Thursday of our summer season, all available food and beverage outlets will be open daily, with full service, until the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.

The Palm Tree Dinner Restaurant, the 10 South Martini Bar and our Beach Bar will all close after Labor Day Weekend. The Sunday of Labor Day Weekend is the last day you can expect these options to be open. The sushi menu will not be available after Labor Day Sunday.

If staying with us during our Fall season, starting on Labor Day and beyond, the only food and beverage options available to you will be our Palm Grill Restaurant and our Tiki Bar.

  • We keep the Palm Grill Restaurant and Tiki Bar open daily (weather dependent) through the month of September.

  • The closing times of these food and beverage outlets are based off weather, crowds and management discretion.

  • We offer a limited food menu during this time.

  • Starting in October, we will ONLY offer these amenities on weekends.

  • Starting in October our restaurants and bars will NOT be open during the week. This means the resort does not offer any options for food or beverage service on weekdays during this time.

  • At this point, assuming good weather, our bar will open at 11:00am and our restaurant will begin serving food at 11:30am on the weekends.

  • The closing times of these food and beverage outlets are based off weather, crowds and management discretion.

  • During this time, table service may be available; however some days we may only offer food through our bar.

  • The sushi menu is not available during this time.

  • We highly recommend you do some research into where is open during your stay so you have a solid plan on where to eat and drink during that time.

Your room will include a mini-fridge and microwave for your convenience.

In all of our seasons, we do not serve breakfast on property; however we do host the Compassion Café each year.  This is an incredible café run by Teens and Young Adults with Special Needs. For more information please visit their website, https://www.compassioncafelbi.org/

  • Their opening date does vary but is typically Mid-May.

  • They will be available every Monday –Thursday from 7am-11am through Mid-September.

  • You can find this café under our tiki hut. They offer grab and go style breakfast items and coffee.

  • Opening and closing dates are decided upon by the staff at the Compassion Café and are not under the control of the Sea Shell Resort.

Private Events and how they impact your stay:

  • In our Spring and Fall seasons we host weddings and private events every single Friday, Saturday, Sunday and quite often on weekdays as well.

  • During these seasons – on the days we do host events - a large portion of our outdoor space and our entire indoor dining room will be closed for our private events. These amenities are always scheduled to be closed during these seasons regardless of our private event schedule.

  • In order to offer our wedding guests an exclusive experience, we will limit use of some entrances and exits on property that may impact the path you must take to access your room, our lobby, pool, patio, tiki bar and beach.

  • On the days we host these events: at 3pm each afternoon the deep end of our pool and the surrounding pool deck will close and be blocked off.  You will not be able to swim past the rope that delineates the deep end nor will you be able to sit or lounge in the deep end deck area.

  • We will still allow you use of the shallow end of the pool and the surrounding pool deck within that space.

  • We will ask that you be respectful with noise levels and actions in the pool during these times for our wedding couples.

On these days, you can expect to have access to:

  • the space that includes our Tiki Bar

  • a large portion of our Palm Grill deck

  • our To-Go Shack and Merch Shop

  • a large portion of our private beach including the fire pit area

Please refer to the Restaurant and Bar availability section for specifics on when these amenities will be open. While you will always have access to these spaces during the day, they may or may not be open for service.

On these days you can expect NOT to have access to:

  • our indoor dining room and bar space

  • our Beach Bar and the southern part of our patio including our tiki hut

  • the south side of our private beach

  • the deep end of our pool and surrounding pool deck.

On some event dates, not all, we may host the dinner buffet in our lobby space. When this happens we will close our lobby for roughly one hour in the evenings and offer this space privately for our event guests. During this time our front desk staff is still available to you and can help you with checking in or with any other help needed. If needed, they will coordinate a space to meet and assist you. During this time the common space in our lobby will not be accessible to you, including the couches, coffee station and lobby computer desk.

As a reminder, the noise from our private events can be heard AND felt within the oceanfront rooms. Most of our events are weddings that include a DJ or live band. The noise from these events can start as early as 3pm and go as late as 1am. If you book an oceanfront room during one of these events, the noise may impact your stay. We strongly encourage you to consider this when making the choice on what room type to stay in. Some parties are louder than others so we do warn as if they will all be very loud.

Music and Entertainment in our Off-Seasons:

  • The resort does not offer daily live music until our Summer Season.

  • In our Spring season, the only live entertainment offered is within our night club and daily on Memorial Day Weekend (Fri – Mon).

  • There will be no live entertainment any time before Memorial Day Weekend.

  • Our resort will offer recorded background music, played throughout the pool, bar, restaurant and beach areas for your enjoyment.

  • During the time of our scheduled private events, we allow the music from the events to take priority in our pool, beach, bar and restaurant area.

  • Starting the Thursday of Memorial Day Weekend, our night club will open on Thursday and Saturday nights.

  • On both Thursday and Saturday nights, from MDW through the end of the summer season, the backyard outdoor area (including the pool area, private beach, outside bar areas and outside restaurant areas) will be utilized for our night club from 10pm-1am. During this time only guests 21 and over can come into this space. Anyone under 21, even hotel guests and their children will be denied entry.

  • As a hotel guest who is over 21, you will have free access to our nightclub. You must enter the nightclub through the approved entry way and show valid ID to our security team.

  • Anyone who presents a fake ID or an ID that is not theirs will have the ID confiscations and the police will be notified.

  • Our nightclub is a really fun and popular attraction on LBI and we often experience large crowds.

  • Due to the large crowds and the music being played, we issue noise warnings for all reservations in oceanfront hotel rooms.

DOGS AT THE SEA SHELL

  • First Floor Queen Rooms are dog friendly in the Spring and Fall seasons. There is a fee of $40 per dog, per night and a limit of 3 dogs per room.

  • No other pets besides dogs are permitted on property.

  • Maid service can only be offered if your dog is crated or not in the room.

  • Dogs will be denied access at check in if not booked into the appropriate room type at the time the reservation is made or if booked into a reservation made in-season when we do not allow dogs.

  • If a dog, or other pet, is discovered in a hotel room that they are not permitted in (ie: wrong room type and/or in our summer season) there will be a $150 fee per animal, per night of your reservation.  You will be held responsible for the full length of your stay but your dog(s) or pet(s) must be removed immediately from the resort. If removing your dog or pet means you must also leave the resort, you will still be held responsible for the full length of your scheduled stay, regardless if you check out early.

  • Bringing a dog to the resort in our summer season may result in your being denied access to check in and under which circumstances you would forfeit your advanced deposit.

  • The resort is dog friendly in our Spring and Fall seasons, but not within our summer season, with exception to Service Animals, as described by the ADA. While Emotional Support Animals or Comfort Animals are often used as part of a medical treatment plan as therapy animals, they are not considered service animals under the ADA. These support animals provide companionship, relieve loneliness, and sometimes help with depression, anxiety, and certain phobias, but do not have special training to perform tasks that assist people with disabilities. Even though some states have laws defining therapy animals, these animals are not limited to working with people with disabilities and therefore are not covered by federal laws protecting the use of service animals.

  • Your dog is expected to be well behaved and to remain on a leash at all times while in our public spaces.

  • If your dog excessively barks or makes noises in the room you may be asked to intervene. Many dogs, even well behaved dogs, get uncomfortable when left alone in a hotel room. We insist that you must be respectful of our other guests as it pertains to the noise level of your dog(s).

  • If the noise level from your dog persists to a point where we cannot come to a reasonable solution, you may be asked to remove your dog from the resort. If this happens, you will still be financially responsible for the length of your stay at the resort, even if this means you need to check out early. We ask that all guests traveling with dogs think this through before committing to bringing your dog(s).

  • Dogs are not permitted within our pool areas or on our private beach.

  • Dogs are permitted on the public beach ONLY within the dates set by the town. The Sea Shell cannot be responsible for these dates of access.

  • The Sea Shell does not offer a pet relief space and we ask that you do not use our property for your dog’s bathroom breaks.

  • There is a park next door that offers your dog a great space for exercise and bathroom breaks. This park is not fenced. This park is the property of the town and availability and condition of this park is not the responsibility of the Sea Shell. There are times when flea markets and community events are held in this park and during those times your dog may not have access to this space.

  • During our summer season we do allow dogs into our outdoor restaurant only. During this time dogs are not permitted to stay at the resort in our hotel rooms. Dogs must be leashed and are not permitted within the pool fence or on our private beach.
